Local Christmas goodness: Bake Bar Jar cakes and Coquito
Christmas is coming ladies and gents! The weather is just now starting to change in Miami, and we are extra excited here in the tropics. Our Christmases aren’t exactly winter wonderlands, but we do get to pull out our sweaters and boots from hiding, so I’m for it.
Holiday goodies are also a favorite. Some years, I’m either too stumped or too swamped to think about what to bring for my favorite people, co-workers or even gatherings. I end up going for the standard wine bottle or side dish, which haven’t steered me wrong but aren’t too thrilling or locally supportive. This year, however, I am gettin’ some adorable Bake Bar jarcakes and coquito! Boom. Cris-1, Christmas-0.
Bake Bar, a signature go-to for my family and friends, is run by the talented and lovely Mailyn Lesteiro. This young Miami entrepreneur is a magician with baked goods. She can make anything delicious. . . and it’s pretty. Jarcakes are an irresistible holiday present. These cupcakes inside jars are deliciously moist and packed with a punch of sweetness. Dress them up with Christmas-themed ribbons and you’ve got yourself a solid gift.
The coquito, which is her holiday specialty and best seller, is basically a dream. If cinnamon married coconut and rum, and then became a superhero, it would be Bake Bar Coquito.
