Kimono | The Thing to Wear
Translated literally to “thing to wear,” the kimono is truly living up to its meaning. This fashion trend dating back to the late 19th century has made a graceful re-entry to contemporary style, and into the hearts of every boho-chic gypsy. Traditionally, this garment was worn by samurai—so it’s only fitting the kimonos today are worn by care-free, and sexy, weekend warriors. I find the appeal behind this flowy statement piece is attributed to its versatility and comfort. Looking dolled up, even in a casual setting, is completely doable when sporting a cozy kimono.
This adorned robe can be worn by all body types, which makes it a go-to piece when you’re feeling less than fabulous, i.e. hormonal and slightly bloated. They are never boring to look at thanks to the elegant movement, and the plethora of designs to choose from. Some have beautiful fringe and tassels, others have clean lines and bold patterns, you’re bound to find something to vibe with your taste.
Whether your personal style is edgy, romantic, or androgenous, there’s a kimono out there for you (or someone you love). Make 2015 the year of the kimono—comfy is the new sexy.
