For those of you living under a rock and unfamiliar, Project 365 is a year-long challenge to become a better photographer. You are to take a photo every day for a year and eventually see your progress.
The end result can be a lot more than stronger skills, but a time capsule of your life. Although we live in a world where we seem to be constantly capturing it vs. experiencing it, there is a difference when you are challenging yourself to create art. It's more than just a social media feed. It's purposefully observing your day with an impartial eye in order to find the beauty in it.
Not too long ago, I wrote a freelance article which forced me to take short videos for a micro-film competition. I thought it would be simple. I'm a millennial, I constantly take photos for social media. But the exercise was thought provoking and gave me a different type of perspective. I was forced to find art in my everyday actions. At first I couldn't, it was difficult. I strained through those first days. And then, keeping on, it snapped in place. I suddenly saw art everywhere. It's all around us and we don't even see it! We are art. Our experiences, our freckles, our expressions, our surroundings. It's constantly evolving around us and we actually get a front row seat.
The photo above was taken at a really special sunset while traveling. I was messing around with the camera while sippin' a delicious beer. It's one of my favorite moments.
We have been gearing up our Project 365 and are so excited to begin sharing with you! Are you working on your own Project 365 or are you thinking of getting started? Share with us below!
